Multi-Frequency Metro Networks - Resolving Network Information Overload

Wireless and cellular service providers are in a constant race to stay ahead of voice and data demand on their networks. New devices like smart phones and 3G-enabled portable computers are exponentially adding to the packet traffic, requiring millions and millions of dollars in investments in cell sites and backhaul capabilities. Before 4G devices arrive, there is an opportunity to change the paradigm of data transmission, increase available bandwidth and trim capital equipment costs. With Rajant wireless mesh network technology, service providers can unlock new spectrum with higher performance and lower overhead than traditional routing and switching.

Add Capacity with Rajant Mobile Mesh Networks

For service providers, Rajant BreadCrumb® wireless device and InstaMesh® software offer a path to new spectrums as well as a better way to increase Wi-Fi coverage in underserved (but overstressed) urban areas. Multi-radio BreadCrumb units allow for up to four different radio modules, and with their auto-switching capabilities, they can easily route packets between available frequencies including 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz and 5.0 GHz. This allows service providers to route their traffic from user’s devices onto a frequency for wide area transmission, then down to a device connected to the Internet. Plus, Rajant software enables packet tracking so that usage can be billed per byte if needed.

Rajant BreadCrumbs also provide superior coverage for Wi-Fi network expansion. By using other frequencies to connect nodes, Rajant technology can be deployed with fewer nodes compared to alternative technologies. Plus, with Rajant InstaMesh software, node failure does not mean network failure. Packet data automatically reroutes to the next available node using the best possible frequency.
