Solutions Service Providers & Telecom

Service Providers & Telecom

The wireless industry faces enormous challenges as consumers and businesses alike grow more reliant upon smart phones and mobile Internet. Smart phone sales today outstrip those of PCs, and are projected to top 1.5 billion units annually before 2013. Consumers expect wireless coverage – including mobile Internet – to be as ubiquitous and available as a dial tone. Factor in the growing popularity of Wi-Fi connected tablets, mobile applications and 4G-enabled devices, and the demand for packet traffic, requiring millions and millions of dollars in investments in cell sites and backhaul capabilities, is painfully clear.

Before 4G and LTE devices become the standard and further exacerbate the dilemma, there is an opportunity to change the paradigm of wireless data transmission, increase available bandwidth and wireless spectrum, and trim capital equipment costs – and do so with a solution that complements, not competes with, existing technology.

Using Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh Networking technology, service providers can leverage untapped spectrum with higher performance and lower overhead than traditional routing and switching.

Rajant’s BreadCrumb network nodes and InstaMesh routing software offer a path to new spectrum as well as a better way to increase wireless and Wi-Fi coverage in underserved, yet over-stressed service areas. Multi-radio BreadCrumb units route packets between multiple frequencies including Wi-Fi, private government bands and commercial spectrum ranging from the 350 MHz to 6 GHz – including non-mobile frequencies. The result: one unified network that dynamically switches from channel to channel when a network node fails or interference is present. This allows service providers to effectively leverage frequencies never intended for mobile use – and make it all transparent to users.

Service providers can route their traffic from users’ devices onto a frequency for wide area transmission, then down to a device connected to the Internet. Plus, Rajant software enables packet tracking so that usage can be billed per byte if needed.

Easily deployed, managed, and maintained – and proven in demanding applications such as mining and military operations – Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh networking technology represents a breakthrough for wireless operators and service providers interested in offloading data traffic and expanding coverage.
